City of Columbia Seeking Comment on Revised Stormwater Ordinance
The City of Columbia is seeking public input concerning proposed revisions to its stormwater management and erosion control ordinances. The following meetings will be held at 701 Whaley Street:
November 29th from 1 to 3 p.m.
December 6th from 6 to 8 p.m.
December 13th from 1 to 3 p.m.
This ordinance and its accompanying engineering design manual are important tools in implementing the City's MS4 stormwater permit issued in 2010. Congaree Riverkeeper believes that this ordinance presents a tremendous opportunity for the City to step forward as a leader in progressive stormwater management. This ordinance should demonstrate the City's commitment to stream protection, including adoption of minimum standards for stream buffers that are, at the very least, consistent with stream buffers already adopted by Richland and Lexington Counties. We need to show the City that our Rivers matter. Please join us at one or more of these meetings.
