Congaree Riverkeeper Cleans Up Rocky Branch Creek

Congaree Riverkeeper hosted a clean-up of Rocky Branch Creek on Wednesday, March 14. Members of Congaree Riverkeeper along with volunteers from Starbucks, the University of South Carolina, the Rocky Branch Watershed Alliance, and area residents worked to remove litter from the creek located in Maxcy Gregg Park.

The event, which lasted from 10:00 a.m. to around 1:00 p.m., was part of a Clean Stream Award that Congaree Riverkeeper received from the City of Columbia aimed at protecting local rivers and streams and reducing runoff pollution.
The volunteers managed to collect and safely dispose of 25 bags of trash and 15 pieces of scrap metal from the creek.
