September Water Quality Results

On September 28th and 29th we conducted water quality sampling at 10 sites across the Midlands. We recently increased our sampling frequency to every other month and added a new sample site (Crane Creek). Two of the samples collected in September were above the state standard for E.coli of 349/100mL.

Urban stream sites on Smith Branch and Rocky Branch had E. coli results above the state standard for contact recreation. These high bacteria numbers are likely associated with stormwater runoff from the rainfall we received on Sept. 28th.
