Westinghouse EIS Public Comment Period Open

On July 31st, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission published the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Westinghouse Electric Company's request to renew its operating license for the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility located in Richland County for an additional 40 years.

The official 45-day public comment period on the draft EIS began when notice was published in the Federal Register on August 6, and comments will be accepted until September 20th.
