September Water Quality Report | 2018
September 28, 2018
In late September we conducted our regular water quality monitoring at 10 river and stream sites across the Midlands. Two of the sample results, Stoops Creek, and Smith Branch exceeded the state standard for contact recreation of 349 per 100 ml.
After receiving the results we contacted DHEC and started an investigation on Stoops Creek. Palmetto Wastewater Reclamation (aka Ni America, formerly Alpine Utilities) was contacted and after inspecting their sewer system they found a leak at one of their upstream pump stations. According to DHEC the leak has been fixed. Palmetto Wastewater will be collecting follow up samples to confirm the issue has been resolved.
